Support for data-driven process development
This device measures molten aluminum and electrolyte levels by visually detecting the varying degrees of temperature on a metal rod that is immersed in and withdrawn from the molten metal. It analyzes images captured by the built-in camera and recognizes the position and rotation of the measured object in 3D space in front of the camera. The device then uses triangulation calculations to accurately calculate the required values.

Key features
Manual start of measurement
The device contains a trigger button, with which the operator initiates the measurement.
Automatic start of measurement
In automatic mode, the device repeatedly captures the image using a camera, which it analyzes. If it detects a suitable time for measurement, it starts the measurement process itself. The trigger for starting the measurement is not only the presence of the measured object in the image, but also its distance, rotation, and possibly lighting conditions. For example, if the rod is very bright and there are no visible boundaries, the system waits until it cools down due to unsuitable lighting and only then starts the automatic measurement.
Measurement
The system first takes several images with the camera, then selects suitable images, averages them, and then detects the measured object. Finally, using triangulation, it measures it and measures the glowing parts.
QR code scanning
To make it easier to identify the metallurgical furnace for which the measurement is being performed, it is possible to point the camera at the QR code placed on the furnace before the measurement itself.
Touch screen interface
For easy operation, the meter includes, in addition to the measurement start button, a touch screen and software that allows you to set measurement parameters, display a preview of measured data, as well as the measured data itself.
Data processing
The meter stores the measured data in its internal memory. If necessary, the operator can view previous measurements on a given furnace. The system also sends the measured data to a higher-level information system via a WiFi network.
Integration Capabilities

3D Cave
Integration with other systems (TODO)
Software
The basic visualization software is created in Unity. A library supporting 3D stereoscopic display in the cave was created, which ensures synchronization of image display on individual projection surfaces. The library structure was chosen so that it was possible to very easily modify the original desktop application written in Unity to a version suitable for 3D Cave. A well-known Unity demo game could be modified in this way in less than an hour. After this modification, the application can be used either as a desktop version, a version for HMD display or as an application for 3D cave, depending on the configuration file used.
We have created specialized software for educational purposes. The software displays a forest with the option of marking or felling trees. The student can then use a growth simulator to calculate the state of the forest in a few years and evaluate whether the forest is growing as he wanted. If not, he can go back, make corrections and repeat the whole cycle. This way he can learn to care for the forest in a short time without having to wait for the trees to grow.
